Common distractors
- Answers that are partly true but do not answer the exact question.
- Repeated words from the text used in the wrong option.
- Details from the wrong paragraph or section.
- Answers based on general knowledge rather than the text.
- Options that match the topic but not the wording of the question.
Strategy tips
Read the question first, underline the key information needed, then scan the text for the relevant section. Before choosing or writing an answer, check that it answers the exact question, not just the general topic.
